each awarded $125,000 as part of the
NYIEQ Center's first Commercialization
Assistance Program (CAP I). The grants

Proposal
Evaluation:
To
evaluate the proposals, the NYIEQ Center
formed an independent selection panel
representing a diverse background of
expertise in law, technology transfer,
business management and marketing, entrepreneurship,
venture capital and technology. The
panelists were:

Ted
Hagelin, Professor of Law, Syracuse
University;
-
Gary
Lim, Managing Director, Program
in Entrepreneurship and Emerging
Enterprises, Syracuse University's
School of Management;
-
Dirk
E. Sonneborn, Managing Partner,
Exponential Business Development,
a venture capital firm; and
-
Kenneth
E. Torrance, Joseph C. Ford Professor,
Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering,
Cornell University.
The
selection panel made their determination
based on the evaluation criteria delineated
in the CAP I solicitation. The selection
panel carefully reviewed all 18 proposals
and conducted interviews.
