FailSafe
of Amherst, NY received a $100,000
grant to market a technology combining
UV light and HEPA filtration for
the area surrounding infectious
patients. This technology improves
the safety of surrounding personnel
in medical and other building
environments. FailSafe currently
has FDA approval for this technology.

Taitem
Engineering of Ithaca, NY received
a $50,000 grant to develop and
license a version of a Department
of Energy model that simulates
both energy consumption and IEQ.
The software will include a graphical
interface to broaden its usability.

Proposal Evaluation:
Starting
with twenty proposals, an independent
selection committee of highly qualified
individuals from a number of different
fields was established by NYIEQ to meet
and determine the merit of each submission.
